It should come as no surprise, to anyone who has picked up a recent newspaper or watched TV, that this country is still hurting, in relation to the shortage of jobs with adequate pay and adequate hours. Of course, if one is desperate, almost any job is better than no job at all. But I value stability, so I'm hoping to find work which will enable to achieve a certain amount of stability.
There are some people whose kneejerk reaction is to play the "blame the victim" game by assuming that whenever a person begs for help, that person is being punished by God for not being willing to work, or perhaps for not looking hard enough for work. But things aren't always that simple.
I do genuinely want to do honest work for an honest wage. Good pay is not all I seek. But certainly, it's pretty hard to achieve maximum fulfillment from a job if one can't even provide for one's minimal needs.
One can sometimes derive a type of satisfaction even by doing volunteer work, but it's been my experience that the extent to which that's feasible depends in large part on whether or not one's basic material needs are being met in other ways. (For example, if a person is still college-age, and he or she is still living with his or her parents, it may be more feasible to do a lot of volunteer work, compared with a situation where no such help is being received.)
Shelter, clothing, a place to stay clean, and of course food would all be on my list of necessities. Medical and/or dental care may also be needs. So I plan to discuss my vocational needs in relation to my current situation vis-a-vis those other needs.
Therefore, I plan to post my resume and other information pertaining to my job search on this blog. In addition, I plan to discuss other efforts of mine, in relation to my current entrepreneurial endeavors.
In light of the current state of our economy, I think that it's foolish to put all of one's eggs in one basket (to use a cliche). There's a lot of brainstorming involved, and a fair amount of research, too. Sometimes, it's a matter of persistence.
In the sidebar of this blog, and also in various posts, I intend to list links to a number of blog posts and documents, under the category heading of Jobs and Career. That way, hopefully, it will be easier to furnish people with the information they may need in order to help me in that area.
Of course, that will include a link to the PDF file which will consist of my current resume.
